Q: How does the TCD2 work?
A: Allow yourself enough time for traffic! Best to arrive and park at Valley Vineyards by 5:30 to register, sign waivers, get a name tag, enjoy a drink or snack and use the restrooms before we leave at 6:00pm. Busses take us to the put in point, we canoe, then go back to VV for dinner, drinks, and music!

Q: What does dinner include?
A: Dinner includes: Your choice of either a nice New York Strip Steak, or Atlantic Salmon Filet, 2 types of salad, Green Beans Almadine (or corn on the cob in season), Seasonal Vegetables, Baked Potato, Fresh Breads, Special Homemade desserts.

Q: Can we bring our own canoe or use kayaks?
A: Due to the nature of this fun event we use only canoes, no private boats permitted. You may bring a water proof bag or your own approved PFD.

Q: What is the river like on the trip we take?
A: The Little Miami is an easy class 1 river. Mild rapids with calm pools in between. A short 5 minute canoe “refresher” course will given at the put in. No prior experience required. There is always a chance of tipping over, but it is very infrequent.

Q: How far is the canoe float, how much time will it take?
A: The canoe float begins at Morgans Riverside campground and ends at our pull out just south of the Morrow bridge at our 3-mile take. Depending on the water level is approximately a 1-hour leisurely paddle.

Q: What can I expect to see on the float?

A: The Little Miami River is Ohio’s first Scenic River. On past trips we have seen a variety of animals including. Bald Eagles, Deer, Blue Herons, Hawks, jumping fish, Kingfisher birds, and lots of turtles!

Q: What should I bring/wear?
A: Sunglasses and straps on all eyewear. depending on the temperatures casual attire and a light jacket, comfy river shoes that can get wet are best on the river. You may want to bring a camera but make sure you have it in a waterproof bag or container. A bottled water will be provided at the put in. We recommend bringing a change of clothes for post-float cookout and live music at Valley Vineyards until 10 pm.

Q: What happens if weather and or water conditions are deemed unsafe?
A: This is a rain or shine event, dinner and music will go on and a rain check for a 3 mile trip will be issued. A light rain or drizzle won’t stop us. Morgan’s reserves the right to use rafts at their discretion, if the river is a little to high for canoes, This is a limited event, there is *No* refunds or canoe vouchers for no shows.

  • Morgan’s is the oldest Triathlon of its’ kind, being modeled one year after the first Iron Man Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii in 1979, with the canoe/kayak leg replacing the swim portion. Morgans is the originator of a triathlon that has the paddling component, with many other races being copied after our race.
  • The event is made up of 2 person teams; your combined time is used in the results. We also offer an individual/kayak division.
  • The kayak division is designed for those who wish to race individually without a partner. Participants in the kayak division can bring their own or use a Morgan kayak. The price is the same.
  • First heats for the spring event go out at 8am; for the fall event the first heat is 9am.The 1/2 triathlon heats will begin at 10am this spring and 10:30 in the fall.

We now have a Half Mini Triathlon option!

Walkers are welcome in the Half Triathlon division.

  • Can’t commit to the time it takes to compete in the full triathlon? Want to run with your child or a parent who may not be physically able to endure the full tri? Not sure that you are ready for the full triathlon? Then the 1/2 triathlon is ideal for you! The 1/2 triathlon includes a 3 mile paddle segment, 2 mile run (or walk) and 8 mile bike ride, along with the after-party celebration. Price is the same for either full or 1/2 event. This is a fun race and there will not be awards given, but it will be timed.     Note: There is a division for walkers in the 1/2 Tri too!

Plan ahead! Our spring triathlon is always the first Sunday in June and the fall event is the first Sunday in October.

Register under different divisions: Male/Male, Female/Female, Male/Female,Parent/Child, Masters(combined ages of 80+) and Centurions (combined age of 100+).  Due to time constraints, walkers will only be eligible for the Half Triathlon.
